Innocent Hearts College of Education organized Drug De-addiction Awareness Seminar

The Red Ribbon club of Innocent Hearts College of Education organized an awareness seminar on ‘Drug prevention, control and treatment measures’ in the adopted village Loharan. This awareness seminar aimed to sensitize villagers about the hazardous drug vulnerabilities and remove their fear of approaching health clinics for treatment.

The villagers were educated about the ill- effects of drug abuse and addiction. All the Red Ribbon club members wore red ribbons, made descriptive posters and charts depicting the helpline numbers to help people get treatment of drug abuse and addiction. RRC volunteer, Neha began the lecture by explaining how drug addiction starts, often through peer pressure or curiosity and later becomes a dangerous habit. She highlighted the ill-effects of drug addiction: physical effects like damage to the liver, lungs, and brain, as well as the psychological impact including anxiety, depression, and loss of concentration. RRC member Yasmeen stressed upon the social drug abuse consequences like broken family relations, poor work performances, misleading one to criminal thoughts.  Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh strongly cautioned against experimenting with drugs even once, as it could lead to dangerous consequences and lifetime regret. RRC Incharge Tarunjyoti Kaur explained the legal consequences, making the students and villagers aware of strict laws and punishments related to drug possession and consumption.

Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrated World Wetlands day

The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education under the aegis of DISHA-an initiative by Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical trust celebrated World Wetlands day with the theme - ‘Wetlands and traditional knowledge: Celebrating cultural heritage’. 

Creative wetland pot painting competition was organised to raise awareness amongst the student-teachers about the vital role of wetlands for people and the planet and the immense need of restoring wetlands. NSS volunteer Kavita Giri and Purnima Sethi achieved first prize in disseminating the message of valuing, managing, restoring and loving wetlands through their realistic pot paintings. Megha Sharma, Ritika Kaura and Isha Bajaj bagged second prize by creatively crafting migratory birds, fishes and animals symbolising the importance of wetlands in saving the lives of many endangered species. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh, NSS Programme officer Ms. Tarunjyoti Kaur and all the NSS volunteers took pledge to take necessary steps for restoring, conserving and using wetlands sustainably. Certificates were given to all the participants.

Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrated Basant Panchami

The student-teachers of Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrated Basant Panchami with the theme ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat - Spring’s Arrival’. Kite-flying, yellow culinary delight and best out of waste competitions were organised by the Cultural club of the college. Dressed in their basanti garbs, the student-teachers enjoyed making yellow dishes and preparing pickles with economic value. All these tasks aimed at providing vocational education and experiential learning to the would-be teachers. Gurmeen Kaur achieved first position and Sanju bagged second position in the culinary delight competition. Vibha Chawla achieved first position in best out of waste competition. Vibrant kites freely tossed in the sky depicting freedom and the arrival of spring.
