INNOCENT HEARTS COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, JALANDHAR CELEBRATED ANTI-CRACKER DIWALI WEEK

 

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar under the auspices of DISHA - An initiative by Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical trust organized an ‘Anti-cracker and Anti-plastic week’ with the motto of “Go Green” and with the aim of propagating the message of celebrating eco-friendly Diwali.

Keeping our environment clean and green is very important and Diwali is the best time to decorate our houses and surroundings. On the first day ‘Toran-making creativeness’ competition and Rangoli competition with the theme of “the triumph of good over evil” and “Goddess Lakshmi Rangoli designs for Diwali” were organized. Nishu Walia and Keerat preet Kaur achieved first prize in ‘Toran-making creativeness’ and Chanderkala and Harneet Kaur bagged first prize in Rangoli competition.

On the second day the student-teachers and teacher-educators pledged that they would never make use of plastic bags which are a major source of pollution, instead they creatively prepared attractive Diwali gift packages with waste paper material. Slogan writing competition with pictures on theme of “This Diwali burst your ego not crackers” was organized on the third day. Palak Ratta achieved first prize by artistically writing the slogan -“Let's fill our minds and homes with lights and flowers. Not explosives and fumes”. Diya decoration and poster-making competitions were organized on the fourth day. Next two days the student-teachers visited nearby govt schools to explain to the children the various ways to celebrate green Diwali.

 Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh explained to the student-teachers that Diwali is a festival of lights so lights should be illuminated from within each one of us to follow the path of righteousness by overcoming our negative thoughts and weaknesses.

INNOCENT HEARTS COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, JALANDHAR EXHIBITED SPECTACULAR YIELDS IN SEM-I B.ED. EXAMINATION.

    The hard work of the student-teachers of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar bore fruitful results with 100% first divisions in the GNDU B.Ed. Examination Sem - I (Dec 2020). Fifty-four percent student-teachers attained more than 80% marks.

Kritika Maggo stood first in the college with 89.7% marks, Nargis Jaitwani achieved second position in the college with 89% marks, Gunpreet Kaur and Tanu Arora bagged third position with 87% marks and Palak Ratta got fourth position in the college with 85.9% marks. All the achievers thanked the Principal and faculty members for providing qualitative Digitalized Education and for acting as facilitators in the teaching- learning process. Kritika Maggo said, “For my achievement, I am thankful to all my teachers for their best cooperation and I am so grateful and happy to choose Innocent Hearts College of Education for my B.Ed. degree. I would like to extend my gratitude to my parents and family for being my constant support.” Nargis Jaitwani said, “I am grateful to my teachers for their encouragement and enthusiasm to teach. I wish I could imbibe in myself the same values as they have.” 

The members of the Management, Principal and staff members congratulated all the student-teachers for their brilliant attainments. Executive director (colleges), BMEMT, Mrs. Aradhana Bowry congratulated the medalists and motivated all the student-teachers to put in more effort in the next semester also.  Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh attributed this success to the team work of faculty members, students and cooperation extended by the Management.

INNOCENT HEARTS COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, JALANDHAR CELEBRATED NATIONAL UNITY DAY

 

The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated National Unity day to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and for instilling a sense of belonging to our nation in the hearts of every citizen of India.

  A pledge taking ceremony was organized to provide the student-teachers an opportunity for reaffirming their inherent strength and resilience to stand against threats to the national unity, integrity and security of our nation INDIA.  Patriotic solo singing and solo dance performances were also organized on the theme of ‘Unity in Diversity'. Komal sang the patriotic song ‘Salaam India, Jhuke tere aage sar’ with great zeal and fervour. The student-teachers of NSS unit danced very gracefully on the song beats of 'Mera Des Rangeela'.  Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh in his speech highlighted the importance of unity by explaining that unity is strength and the onus of keeping India united is on the shoulders of our student-teachers i.e. would-be teachers.

INNOCENT HEARTS COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, “TEACHERS TO BE” STEPPED UP TO THE PODIUM WITH EXCELLENT RESULT

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar achieved 100% First Divisions in the aggregate result of GNDU B.Ed. Examination (2019- 2021). Eight percent student-teachers achieved distinctions and forty-three percent student – teachers grabbed more than 70% marks. 

Ria Mahajan achieved first  position in the college with 76.1% aggregate marks, Japleen Kochhar bagged second position with 75.5 % aggregate marks and Reema Rani got third position in the college with 75.4% aggregate marks of all the four semesters. Ria Mahajan said, “I express my heartfelt gratitude towards the almighty, parents and teachers without whom this academic achievement would have not been possible for me.” Japleen Kochhar added, “Success is not something you attain without putting in the effort. It is a mindset you must adopt to accomplish your goals and grow as a person and it takes hard work. My family has always supported and encouraged me to work hard to attain my goals. Moreover, the co-operation and guidance of Principal Sir and the teachers of our college have always encouraged me to move forward. Saying ‘thankyou’ to all of them is just not enough.”

Executive Director (Colleges), Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust, Mrs. Aradhana Bowry appreciated the progress made by the student-teachers. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh motivated the would-be teachers to keep working whole-heartedly by polishing their skills in the schools too, where they will be teaching in the near future.

The members of Management, Principal and faculty members congratulated all the student-teachers for their brilliant performance. All would-be teachers felt victorious and thanked their mentors.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International Girl Child Day

 

The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International girl child day to advocate the notion that girls are no less than boys in all the spheres of life.

A drama on the theme of solutions to gender inequality – ‘Digital generation, our generation’ was enacted by NSS volunteers Palak Ratta, Baljit Kaur, Gunpreet Kaur, Navjeet Kaur, Navpreet Kaur, Nandini and Taranpreet Kaur. They expressed their inner feelings and thoughts through this drama about the strategies to be adopted to equip girls with qualitative education and make their future bright. 

An extempore was also conducted on the topics related to the achievements of Great Indian women  - Mary Kom, Kalpana Chawla, Sunita Williams etc. E- certificates were given to the winners and drama actors.

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh congratulated the winners and appreciated the participants. He said that the college has a ‘Grievance cell’ and a ‘Guidance and Counselling cell’ to help in solving problems faced by females so that they live a peaceful and dignified life.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated Gandhi Jayanti

 

The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated Gandhi Jayanti by organising various activities on the theme of inculcating Gandhian values and principles of truth, non-violence, simplicity and tolerance amongst the would-be teachers.

All the student-teachers actively participated in an Extension lecture organised on the sub-theme - ‘Open thy arms to change, but don't let go of your values.’ The resource person for the event, Language trainer  (alumna) Ms.Tanvi narrated interesting stories from the life of Mahatma Gandhiji, the way he faced hardships with great courage and tackled them with determination and patience. She elucidated, ‘in this world which is moving through the phase of violence and terrorism, there is a significant requirement of Gandhian philosophy of non- violence even more today than was in the past years.’ 

A drama was enacted by the student-teachers Nargis Jaitwani, Reetu, Rajni Sharma, Riya Lamba and Doras  Malhotra with  the primary aim of promoting Gandhian ideas on Experiential Learning, Nai Talim, Work Education and Community Engagement. It potrayed that Nai Talim (New Education) focussed on nurturing multiple skills in a child based on her/his interest. It prepared students with knowledge, skills and self-reliance, which open avenues for expanding opportunities for employment and overall development of an individual. 

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh highlighted that true character-building education needs to be focused on values, ethics and ideal citizenship. It is very much important for our would-be teachers to understand and imbibe the philosophy of education given by our Father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhiji. The Principal and all the staff members appreciated the performances of the student-teachers.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated Hindi Diwas

 

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated Hindi diwas with great pride and nobility. By reciting Kabirdas ji’s couplets, Rahim ji’s couplets and Tulsidas ji’s couplets in Hindi language the student-teachers spread the message that Hindi language is the soul of our cultural heritage. It is our official language and the backbone of our nation.

A virtual play on the theme of preserving and disseminating Hindi Language to the coming generations in its pure form by not mixing it with the other languages was artistically enacted by Neha Sareen, Nishu Walia, Shikha Sanan, Mitali Rana, Preeti and Amanpreet Kaur. The importance of Hindi Language in modern times was very well illustrated through this drama.

Many student-teachers also recited self-composed poems depicting their love and respect for Hindi language. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh congratulated all the participants and e-certificates were given to all of them.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International Literacy day

 

The student-teachers of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International literacy day through virtual reality with 2021 theme given by UNESCO i.e. 'Literacy for a human-centred recovery, Narrowing the digital divide’. Reaching out to the masses for educating them through mass media and spreading the importance of literacy was the main objective of the event.

A virtual drama was enacted by the student-teachers with different scenes depicting real-life situations. Ankita Suri performed as the narrator. Surabhi Sharma, Kritika Maggo, Deeksha, Amanpreet Kaur, Kiratpreet Kaur, Ramandeep Kaur, Imandeep Kaur, Richa Dhir and Tanisha played the roles of illiterate and literate individuals. Through the different scenes they highlighted the importance of education. In one scene they showed how an educated lady saved an uneducated woman from being fooled by a cunning shopkeeper at the grocery who was going to misuse her debit card with her mobile one time password. In another scene an educated daughter saved her illiterate mother from losing her property by reading the papers for her on which she was about to put her thumb impression. This way with various video clippings the students highlighted the importance of literacy in our daily life. They prepared their own script, composed dialogues themselves, chose appropriate costumes and props, they also added animated backgrounds and joined the clippings of each character.

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh said that Drama incorporates the constructivist approach of teaching in which the teacher acts as a facilitator and students construct their own knowledge. The online drama on ‘Literacy is a bridge from misery to hope’ was almost like real drama performance. It was very well organised by the team. E-certificates were bestowed to all the participants.

 

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated Teachers day online

The student-teachers of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar showered their reverence and gratitude for their teachers by organizing Teachers day celebrations. It was almost like reality because all participants in the online platform opened their camera and wholeheartedly participated in the online event.  

Ankita Suri welcomed Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh and all the teachers to the google meet. A tribute was paid to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan by presenting his contributions as an educationist through a pictorial power-point presentation presented by Riya Lamba. Santosh Kaur recited a very emotional poem “Teachers make a Difference” dedicated to every teacher who says, “Yes, you can.” A teacher who motivates, encourages, challenges, engages, inspires and instills a love for learning. Then a “Dialogue game” was organized by students in which they spoke the dialogues of their teachers and teachers had to guess whose teaching dialogue it was. It was a fun activity in which all interacted in a jovial mood. 

Nargis Jaitwani melodiously recited her self-composed poem “A Tribute to Teachers”. Then virtual dump sheraz was organized for teachers, the movie name was sent to the teachers individually through whatsapp and the teachers enacted for the other teachers to guess the educational movie name.  Kritika Maggo shared the screen of chocolates for the winners. Amanpreet Kaur also recited quotations for teachers who are nation builders. Surabhi Sharma gave vote of thanks.

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh gave best wishes to the would-be teachers for their bright future. Principal and all teachers appreciated the student-teachers for their wonderful online organization, presentation and team work.
