Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar organized Covid-19 Vaccination Awareness Drive by visiting slum areas.


The student-teachers of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar visited the slum areas in

the Jalandhar district with the objective to spread awareness amongst the slum dwellers about the

precautionary measures against Covid-19 and to guide them on importance of vaccination. The

main purpose of these visits was to make the slum dwellers conscious about the benefits of

wearing masks, Covid vaccine, maintaining social distancing and frequent sanitization.

The students-teachers elucidated that “Hygiene is Two Thirds of Health” so good personal

hygiene should be practiced by slum dwellers which includes washing hands with soap before

eating food, drinking uncontaminated water and food resources. People were motivated to get

vaccinated and vaccination is to be taken twice was highlighted. The student-teachers guided

slum children about Covid-19 precautionary measures. They distributed masks and sanitizers to

them. The problems related to their education were discussed with their parents. Importance of

literacy was also explained to them. The status of teaching-learning process of these children

during pandemic was also assessed.

This was an initiative for social welfare and the student-teachers felt confident that they could

individually educate people in the slum areas. They thanked Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh and

staff members for motivating them. All student-teachers prepared a report on their experience

and also recorded their visits in their Field Engagement files.

Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrated International Yoga day

 The NSS Unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrated  International Yoga day with the theme of ‘Immunity booster Yoga asanas to combat corona pandemic.’

The NSS volunteers spread the message virtually in their neighbourhood and among their relatives that practicing yoga everyday is essential for increasing immunity. They shared their yoga performance videos and photographs showing the various asanas which are necessary for physical, mental and  social well- being. 

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh said that only doing yoga on international yoga day is not enough, Yoga is a thing to be practiced everyday for sound mind and spirit. The benefits of yoga are immense and learning the correct postures is equally important. In the end all pledged to practice yoga everyday.

Alumni of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar demonstrated teaching skills digitally.


Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar organised a webinar on “ Demonstration of teaching skills” by alumni members with the objective of  equipping the student-teachers with modern skills and techniques of teaching. 

Alumnae Ms. Vasundhara demonstrated the various steps of teaching poetry with the help of real objects and videos. Through her poem ``Tree-huggers”, she gave the message of planting more and more trees for increasing oxygen percentage in the air in order to get rid of Covid-19. 

Alumni members Ms. Harsimran Kochhar and Ms. Samridhi demonstrated Herbertian lesson plans on the topics – ‘Branding, labelling, packaging’ and ‘Collection of data' respectively. Ms. Harsimran explained the importance of framing instructional objectives and the technique of relating the new topic with  previously learnt material. Ms. Samridhi highlighted the integration of various skills like blackboard writing , introducing the lesson, explanation, illustrating with examples, stimulus variation and questioning for efficient teaching.

While sharing her experience Ms. Vasundhara said “Six years back, on this same date I gave my Final discussion demonstration during my B.Ed. examination in this college and today again I am giving the demonstration to the would-be teachers. I thank my teacher-educators whole-heartedly for making me what I am today and I would like to acknowledge Innocent Hearts College of Education for developing competent teachers, who are providing qualitative and digitized education to the future generations.”

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh said that “Our alumni have been working as skilled educators in various educational institutions, their achievements have risen the name and fame of our college. I am really glad to thank them for transferring their knowledge and skills to our would-be teachers.” E-certificates were given to all the alumni members as a token of appreciation.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar organised a webinar on ‘Model-based lesson planning’

 Innocent Hearts College of Education organised a webinar on ‘Preparation of lesson plan on Concept Attainment model of teaching’. In order to make teaching more effective and comprehensive for learners, eminent resource person Asst. Prof. Ms. Ravneet Kaur demonstrated the teaching model on attainment of concept to the would-be teachers of Dips College of Education, Dhilwan and Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar.

The webinar began with the Theoretical session in which educational objectives were designed, components of concept attainment model were discussed and lesson plan was explained step-by-step by the resource person. This was followed by interactive session in which all the participants prepared their lesson plans on the subject of their choice and later discussed about their lesson plans. The resource person also explained how this model can be implemented digitally. In the question-answer session, queries were resolved by Ms. Ravneet Kaur by illustrating with examples from various topics of different subjects. In the end, all the participants were thankful for providing them skills of teaching and for developing confidence in them to become efficient teachers in future who will be able to explain the concept in an interesting manner to the learners.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated Baisakhi festival virtually

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated the traditional festival Baisakhi with the objective of preserving and transferring the rich cultural heritage of Punjab to our would-be teachers. It was celebrated with immense fun and frolic through online competitions.

Dressed up in their traditional finery to celebrate the spring harvest festival, the student -teachers danced energetically on the fast paced dhol beats. Folk songs and traditional ballads were sung which added to the merry-making and amusement. Kirti and Reema achieved first prize in Online Dance competition. Riya and Amandeep bagged first prize in Online Solo Folk song competition.

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh remarked that Baisakhi festival commemorates the formation of the Khalsa Panth, under the leadership of Guru Gobind Singhji in the year 1699.  He further explained that we can overcome hard times by spreading positiveness and  joy around us and Baisakhi is the best occasion to do this.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated Holi virtually.

 

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated the festival of colours by organising online creative activities for students at home due to the surge of Covid-19. These competitions were conducted with the objective to increase awareness about playing safe Holi with Corona precautionary measures. 

Spectacular vibrant pigments were displayed by students in the ‘Online Poster making competition’. Amanpreet Kaur achieved first prize with her lively poster of Holi wishes and tips for playing it safely. All student-teachers felt very happy portraying hues with canvas which depicted that this festival dissolves the unseen barriers created by race, caste, creed, religion with its vivid colours. Kritika Maggo also bagged first prize by preparing a three-dimensional poster which conveyed the message of 'Celebrating Safe Holi at home only, amidst Corona'.

Natural Eco-friendly Colour-making competition was organised in which students prepared beautiful shades in a very surprising manner with flowers and vegetables. Doras Malhotra achieved first prize by preparing organic colours in an artistic way.

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh congratulated the winners and wished all ‘A Safe and Healthy Holi’. He  said that it signifies the victory of good over evil and may coronasur be burst to ashes.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar would-be teachers accomplished the feat of TET clearance

 

Seven student-teachers – Divya, Vyomika, Chahat, Namrita, Prabhjot, Maninder of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar bought accolades home by clearing TET ( Teacher Eligibility test) 2021.

Divya and Vyomika shared that the college organises workshops and seminars frequently which help the students to qualify such examinations by updating them with the syllabus, eligibility, scheme of examination, procedure and tactics for preparing and qualifying TET, CTET, PSTET, and UGC- NET. Prabhjot Kaur and Namrita thanked the members of the Guidance and Counselling cell for conducting individual eclectic counselling interviews which helped them in solving their complex problems and developing confidence for clearing TET. Maninder highlighted that  free coaching was provided by the college in which the students discussed Mathematical reasoning questions, probing questions and all the doubts related to such exams were cleared. All achievers attributed their success to the college Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh and the faculty members.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International Mother Tongue day digitally.

The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated ‘Maa Boli Divas’ with the objective to promote and preserve the richness and beauty of Punjabi language and culture.

The concept, importance and history of Punjabi language was explained in detail by well-renowned teacher educator Dr. Tirath Singh. In his online talk, he guided the student-teachers to protect, preserve and transmit their mother tongue to the coming generations in its pure form by not mixing it with the other languages.

Online Slogan writing and Poster-making competitions were also organised. Through their artistic posters the student-teachers depicted their love and respect for their mother tongue. A plethora of slogan writings highlighted the significance and present day relevance of Punjabi language. 

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh congratulated the winners and appreciated all the participants for their brilliant  demonstrations. E- certificates were given to all the participants.
