Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International Mother Tongue day.

The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated ‘Maa Boli Divas’ with the motive to promote, preserve and transmit to the coming generations the richness and beauty of Punjabi language and culture. 

The student-teachers uttered slogans fostering their  love and respect for their mother tongue and displayed creative flash cards and posters to celebrate the glory of Punjabi language. A plethora of slogan writings highlighted the significance and present day relevance of Punjabi language. 

A pledge taking ceremony was organized in which the educators and student-teachers swore to protect, preserve and transmit their mother tongue to the coming generations in its pure form and to impart their mother tongue by integrating it with culture.

Vanni Makhija and Sakshi Thakur bagged first prize and Aarti Devi achieved second prize in poster making competition where as Rishabh and Nitika achieved first prize, Sarika Gautam and Nandini Luthra won second prize in slogan writing competition.

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh congratulated the winners and appreciated all the participants for their artistic  demonstrations. Certificates were given to all the participants.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated Basant Panchami cum Republic day with the theme ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat - colours of patriotism’. Kite-flying, culinary delight and solo song activities were organised. Many student-teachers made yellow dishes and prepared pickles as well as jams with economic value. Vibrant tri coloured kites freely tossed in the sky depicting freedom and different shades of patriotism. Solo singing competition on the theme of ‘Rich cultural heritage of India’ made the atmosphere more energetic and lively. All these tasks aimed at providing vocational education and experiential learning to the would-be teachers.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated National Youth day.

 The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrated National Youth day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, one of the greatest philosophers, social reformer and a spiritual leader. Various activities were organized with the theme from Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy - “You have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you, none can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.”

Slogan writing and essay writing competitions were organized on the inspirational ideals of Swami Vivekananda to arouse the feelings of optimism, unity and a shared responsibility towards our country’s progress amongst the would-be teachers. A declamation contest was conducted on the topic “Take risks in your life. If you win, you can lead, if you lose, you can guide.” NSS volunteer Diksha Mehta achieved first prize in the declamation contest. She explained, “Swami Vivekananda taught that patience and hard work are the means to achieve success. Education meant secular learning according to Swamiji, which in turn aids in character- building and in instilling values among learners. NSS volunteers Inderjit Kaur and Kirandeep Kaur achieved first position in essay writing competition where as Vanni and Pragya grabbed first position in slogan writing competition. They demonstrated that Swami Vivekananda always thought of a society, where youngsters can positively lead their life, they can lead the society with more positivity and ensure strategies for securing everyone’s life. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh congratulated the winners and the whole team for their effort.  He explained, “According to Swamiji, youth have an unmatched energy and can bring powerful changes, so it is the duty of the youth to be responsible towards themselves, their families, societies and the nation. He further said, “As would-be teachers you should make the society aware about the value of education and social service should be your focus in life.”

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar welcomed the New Year 2023 with glee and gaiety.

The student-teachers of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated the new year’s party with the title ‘Skilled India 2023’ incorporating the theme ‘Dream big, stay positive, work hard and enjoy the journey ahead.’ 

In order to enhance the creativity, imagination and cognitive skills of the student-teachers, various competitions were organized in which all the student-teachers prepared artistic items and milk-based products with economic value for gifting and sharing in the new year eve. These activities aimed at providing experiential learning and work education for getting better job prospects in the future.

The whole campus was decorated beautifully with twinkling colourful lights and the garden imbued with fun-filled balloons. The celebrations started with a prayer ceremony in which all prayed to the almighty for being blessed with peace, prosperity, intelligence, wisdom and well-being. The fragrance of aromatic flowers  refreshed the atmosphere when almost all the student-teachers prepared vibrant bouquets. Some student-teachers shared their emotions through mesmerizing songs and self-composed poems. New year resolutions were taken to dream big, stay positive, to work constructively and so on.

Beautiful digital cards were created and gifted by student-teachers. The celebration continued with best wishes and blessings from the Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh and faculty members. Sakshi Thakur achieved first prize in decoration contest.  Nandini Luthra achieved first prize in bouquet- making competition. Preeti bagged first position in preparing sweets. All wished each other peace, harmony, prosperity; physical, mental and spiritual well-being in the coming year and in the years to come.

 The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar observed World Aids day to recognize and address the inequalities which are holding back progress in ending AIDS and speak out against HIV stigma following the theme given by WHO for the year 2022 which is “Equalize access to essential HIV services particularly for key populations –transgender people, people who use drugs, sex workers, prisoners and migrants – and their partners.”

 The NSS volunteers shared facts and medically accurate information about HIV and AIDS. NSS volunteer Preeti elucidated the symptoms of HIV and treatment of AIDS in her speech, raising awareness about AIDS which is Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome caused by the spread of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection. She achieved first position in elocution and Vishali Arora bagged second position. All the student-teachers and faculty members wore red ribbons to raise awareness about AIDS. AIDS awareness slogans ‘Let’s Stop HIV Together’, ‘Open your eyes before AIDS closes them’ etc resonated through the air. 

A poster-making competition was also organized in which the student-teachers prepared descriptive posters and made videos demonstrating their posters. These videos were shared through online mode in order to spread knowledge about HIV myths and promote its prevention. Sakshi Thakur and Roshni achieved first position and Gagandeep Kaur as well as Nandini Luthra achieved second position in poster-making competition.

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh highlighted the fact that adherence of AIDS awareness day is essential as HIV infection is currently incurable, but one can control it with good quality education about the disease and by spreading awareness about AIDS disease in communities, which our NSS unit volunteers are doing to a great extent.

The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated National Unity day to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel: The Iron man of India and for paying tribute to his invaluable contribution in building a modern and unified India.

A pledge taking ceremony was organized to provide the student-teachers an opportunity for reaffirming their inherent strength and resilience to stand against threats to the national unity, integrity and security of our nation INDIA.  A tree plantation drive was organized in the college campus in which medicinal plants were planted as within our nature, trees are perfect role models for unity and purity as well as selflessness and sacrifice.

NSS Volunteer Sakshi Thakur explaining the teachings of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, accentuated that Self-reliance was the chief tenets of Sardar Patel’s economic philosophy. He worked tirelessly to build a consensus with the princely states but did not hesitate in employing methods of Sama, Dama, Dand and Bhed where ever necessary. She quoted his teachings, “We worked hard to achieve our freedom; we shall have to strive harder to justify it”.

Patriotic solo singing competition was organized on the theme of ‘Unity in Diversity' for instilling a sense of belonging to our nation in the hearts of every citizen of India. Amanpreet Kaur sang the patriotic song ‘Sare jahan se achha hindustan hamara’ with great zeal and fervour. Manmeet Kaur expressively sang “Mera desh mera mulk” symbolizing peace, harmony and love for nation. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh in his speech highlighted the importance of unity by explaining that unity is strength and the onus of keeping India united is on the shoulders of our student-teachers i.e. would-be teachers.

The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated ‘International  day of Endurance’ on the theme given by UNESCO that tolerance is respect, acceptance and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world's cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human.

A drama was enacted by the would-be teachers Arti Devi, Avneet Kaur, Manmeet Kaur, Nandini Luthra, Pooja Ghosh, Priya, Rohini, Roshni and Sakshi Thakur on the theme - “Mother Earth endures so much, when we heal our Earth, we heal ourselves” in order to spread the message of saving our Planet Earth by planting more trees, conserving water, proper waste management and by keeping factories away from cities. Through different scenes the student-teachers highlighted that ‘Endurance is not just the ability to bear a difficult thing, but to turn it into glory’ as quoted by William Barclay. 

A pledge-taking ceremony was organised in which all the would-be teachers took a pledge to imbibe the quality of tolerance within themselves as it is very much essential for becoming a good human being and a modest educator. Tolerance is an amazing tool that can help to make the classroom environment democratic and lively in which all can contribute together harmoniously and peacefully. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh appreciated the team work and explained to the student-teachers that being tolerant removes one's self-imposed barriers by allowing one to think more broadly and enjoy greater inner peace.

INNOCENT HEARTS COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, JALANDHAR INITIATED FREE COACHING CLASSES FOR QUALIFYING CTET (Dec 2022)

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar has started the online free evening classes with the aim of providing maximum eligible educators to the society by making them qualify Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET).

The candidates are being updated with the syllabus, eligibility criteria, scheme of examination, procedure of form filling, results in the past years and tactics for preparing and qualifying CTET by expert educationist Professor Dr. Tirath Singh. Mathematical reasoning questions, probing questions are asked during the online classes in which the candidates actively participate. They clear their subject specific doubts regarding such exams. Individual attention is given to each learner and the candidates are motivated to work hard with determination.

It is a good opportunity for the would-be teachers as training is being given for increasing mental ability, concentration, problem solving, general knowledge, teaching proficiency and language skills. Regular mock tests are a feature of these coaching classes and feedback is given to enable the would-be teachers to clear the teacher eligibility test at central level.

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh stated that students from the low income group will also be benefitted from these free online evening coaching classes through the youtube channel “Learning to Actualize”.  He ensured that job aspirants are being provided with maximum skills, training and knowledge through these classes.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar initiated the B.Ed. session (2022-2024) with a prayer ceremony to seek the blessings of the almighty and to welcome the new students with serene positive vibes.  This was followed by Orientation Programme in which the new entrants were acquainted with the rules, regulations and curriculum of the B.Ed. programme. 

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh addressed the new-comers by welcoming them and briefed them about the college governing body, the meritorious history of the college and acquainted them about the various cells and committees run by the college. He introduced the faculty members to the newly admitted students and also discussed the scheme of study of the two-year B.Ed. training programme. Assistant Professor Ms. Tarunjyoti Kaur informed the students about the college etiquettes and the co-curricular and NSS activities which the college organizes every year during the B.Ed. course. In the end, the faculty members encouraged the student-teachers to pursue their goal of success with full dedication and commitment. 

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar enthralled in festivities

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar organized Mehandi design and Nail art competitions as Karwa chauth festivities are around the corner. These competitions were organized on the theme of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ with the aim to showcase the rich culture, heritage, traditions and customs of all states, for enabling people to appreciate and understand India’s diversity, thus fostering a sense of shared identity.

The power of an Indian woman, her beauty, simplicity, grace were all glorified with the traditional art form of Heena design applications. The students-teachers made symbolic designs of mehandi art form on each other’s palms. They made pairs and enjoyed the creative activity of nail art by painting, decorating, enhancing and embellishing nails. This way vocational skill-based education was provided to the students through experiential learning and in a play-way method.

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh congratulated the winners and encouraged the participants by giving certificates to all of them. Pragya and Roshni achieved first position and Medhavi grabbed second position in Mehandi design competition. Diksha achieved first position in nail art competition.  

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International Girl Child Day

 

The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International girl child day to advocate the notion that girls are no less than boys in all the spheres of life and to find solutions to gender inequality.

Visits were conducted to Mahila Kendras and ‘Unique home - abandoned girl’s orphanage’ which is not just an orphanage but a campaign against female foeticide. In the Mahila Kendras speeches were delivered by NSS volunteers on the topics related to the achievements of Great Indian women - Mary Kom, Kalpana Chawla, Sunita Williams, Mother Teresa and many more in order to bring out the hidden inner strength in each women at the Mahila kendras. Various teaching strategies were discussed at Unique home, Jalandhar for equipping young girls with qualitative education and for making their future bright. 

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh said that the college has a ‘Grievance cell’ and a ‘Guidance and Counselling cell’ to help in solving problems faced by females so that they live a peaceful and dignified life.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar ushered in the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations.

The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar started celebrations of Gandhi Jayanti with the aim of promoting Gandhian Philosophy on Vocational Education, Nai Talim and Experiential Learning (VENTEL) amongst the would-be teachers. 

All the student-teachers actively practiced handicrafts like pottery making, embroidery, decorative painting, paper mache, glass work, fabric home decor, paper crafts, puppets and stone work. Mahatma Gandhiji had emphasized on handicraft training, “not merely for production work but for developing intellect of the pupils” - this was the central theme of the various activities.

 

A drama was also enacted by the student-teachers - Aashna, Harkirat Kaur, Hitu Sharda, Preeti, Purvi Kalra, Rishupreet Kaur and Vishali Arora which revealed that Nai Talim (New Education) focusses on nurturing multiple skills in a child. The last scene of the drama depicted how Experiential Learning makes each student intellectual and self-reliant, which in turn opens up new avenues for employment and overall development of an individual. Principal and all the staff members appreciated the performances of the student-teachers.

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh explained that according to Gandhiji, True education is for a proper exercise and training of the bodily organs and mental faculties i.e. Gandhiji accentuated the craft-centered education. He further said that it is very much important for our would-be teachers to understand and imbibe the philosophy of education given by our Father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhiji.
