Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated the spring harvest festival Baisakhi with the objective of preserving and transferring the rich cultural heritage of Punjab to our would-be teachers. Alumni member Mr. Kulwinder Kumar elucidated the religious importance of Baisakhi festival by commemorating that on this day Khalsa Panth was formed under the leadership of Guru Gobind Singhji, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs in the year 1699. Student-teacher Parampreet Kaur explained the importance of Baisakhi festival for the Indian farmers. Dressed up in their cultural attire the student-teachers, Sonia and Sarika performed Gidda. Bolis and Tappes were chanted by the student-teachers Komal and Poonam in Punjabi language which added to the merriment and amusement.

INNOCENT HEARTS COLLEGE OF EDUCATION CELEBRATED HOLI

The student-teachers of Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrated the colourful carnival- Holi under the essence of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ program conveying the message of Holi being a symbol of love and merriment as well as brotherhood and unity.

Floral Rangoli competition on the theme of ‘Unity in Diversity’ depicted that this festival dissolves the unseen barriers created by race, caste, creed, religion with its vivid colours. All student-teachers felt very happy portraying hues in their Rangoli designs.

Spectacular vibrant pigments were displayed by the students in the ‘Natural Eco-friendly Colour-making competition’. The participants prepared beautiful shades in a very surprising manner with flowers and vegetables.

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh and faculty members congratulated the winners and wished all ‘A Safe and Healthy Holi’. In the end, the student-teachers enjoyed playing holi with flowers and organic colours.

Innocent Hearts College of Education observed Martyrs day

The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education observed Martyrs day to remember the sacrifice of three extraordinary revolutionaries of India – Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, Sukhdev Thapar and for paying homage to them.

A drama on personality traits of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev was enacted by the NSS volunteers - Yasmeen, Pooja Mahi, Gurpreet Kaur, Ravneet Kaur, Manmeet Kaur and Tarun which showcased various chivalric incidents related to Indian freedom struggle in turn reviving the spirit of patriotism amongst the audience.

A slogan writing competition on the theme of ‘Reviving slogans of Immortal Indian freedom fighters’ was also organised to recall the inspirational quotes like ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ and ‘The desire for revolution is in our hearts, we shall see how much strength lies in the arms of the enemy.’ Ravneet Kaur and Gurpreet Kaur achieved first position in slogan writing competition.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International Mother Tongue day.

 

The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated ‘Maa Boli Divas’ with the objective to enrich and preserve the purity and glory of Punjabi language and culture. A pledge taking ceremony was organized in which the educators and student-teachers swore to protect, preserve and transmit their mother tongue to the coming generations in its pure form and to impart their mother tongue by integrating it with culture. 

Slogan writing and Poster-making competitions were also organized. Through their artistic posters the student-teachers depicted their love and respect for their mother tongue. Poonam and Golda bagged first position and Sangeeta bagged second position in poster making competition. A plethora of slogan writings highlighted the significance and present day relevance of the Punjabi language. Komal and Tamanna achieved first position, Beauty won second position and Kandla bagged third position in slogan writing competition. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh congratulated the winners and appreciated all the participants for their brilliant demonstrations. Certificates were given to all the participants.

Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrated Basant Panchami cum Valentine day.

Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrated Basant Panchami cum Valentine day with the theme ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat – bonds of love and unity’. Kite-flying, culinary delight and folk song activities were organised. These activities were aimed to enhance creativity, critical thinking power and develop aesthetic sense as well as technicality amongst the student-teachers. In their Basanti attires, the participants gave different titles to their kites to imbibe the values of love, care, empathy, respect, gratitude, happiness and cheer. Vibrant kites freely tossed in the sky depicting freedom and different shades of love. Many student-teachers made yellow dishes and prepared pickles as well as jams with economic value. These tasks aimed at providing vocational education and experiential learning to the would-be teachers. Solo singing competition on the theme of ‘God’s love, it’s so wonderful’ made the atmosphere more energetic and lively.

Innocent Hearts College of Education welcomed the New Year 2024 with glee and gaiety.

The student-teachers of Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrated the New Year’s party with the title ‘Skilled India 2024’ incorporating the theme "Augmenting the cognitive, creative and imaginative skills amongst the would-be teachers for a better future”.

Various competitions like best out of waste competition, bottle decoration creativity, bouquet making inventiveness and poetical symposium were organized which aimed at providing work education and experiential learning to the student-teachers. All the student-teachers prepared artistic items of economic value for gifting and decorating on the New Year eve.

The celebrations started with a prayer ceremony in which all prayed to the almighty for being blessed with peace, prosperity, intellect, wisdom and well-being. The fragrance of aromatic flowers refreshed the atmosphere when the student-teachers prepared vibrant bouquets. The whole campus was decorated beautifully with sparkling colorful lights and the garden imbued with fun-filled balloons.

The student-teachers shared their emotions through mesmerizing songs and self-composed poems. New Year resolutions were taken to dream big, stay positive, to work constructively and so on. Beautiful cards were created and gifted by student-teachers. The celebration continued with best wishes and blessings from Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh and the faculty members. Sarika achieved first prize in decoration contest. Diksha achieved first prize in bouquet- making competition. Tanya and Yashika Jain bagged first position in making wind chimes with waste material. All wished each other peace, harmony, prosperity and well-being in the coming year and in the years to come.

Innocent Hearts College of Education organized a Voters’ Education Programme

The NSS Unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education organized a Voters’ Education Programme for spreading awareness and promoting voter literacy in India with the theme ‘Greater Participation for a Stronger Democracy’. The would-be teachers gave extension lectures in their teaching practice schools to provide basic knowledge related to the electoral process with the primary goal of SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program of Election Commission of India) to build a truly participative democracy in India. The NSS volunteers encouraged many eligible citizens to vote and to make an informed decision during the elections.

A poster making competition was also organized to create awareness about the right to vote amongst the youngsters. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh said that the objective of the competition was not only to augment awareness about encouraging people to cast their vote in the upcoming elections but also to spread the importance of vote casting in democracy. He urged students to vote and cast their vote righteously. NSS volunteer Poonam achieved first position, Gurpreet stood second and Prity obtained third position in the poster making competition.

INNOCENT HEARTS COLLEGE OF EDUCATION OBSERVED HIV/AIDS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN IN SLUM

The Red Ribbon Club of Innocent Hearts College of Education observed HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign in the Slum area near Khambra, in the Jalandhar district which has been adopted by the Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of the college. 

The event was in sync with the theme given by WHO for the upcoming World Aids day 2023 that is ‘Let communities lead’ because change depends not in a moment but on a movement. Before organizing the awareness campaign, RRC Programme officer Ms. Tarunjyoti Kaur visited the slum to inspect the area and make necessary arrangements. Then RRC volunteers Medhavi, Diksha, Sonam, Sarika, Sonia and Enna created posters about information on HIV/AIDS, framed quiz questions on AIDS, prepared cleanliness item packages for distribution and they made and wore red ribbons to raise awareness about AIDS.

During the awareness campaign, the RRC volunteers Enna, Medhavi, Tanya and Vanni shared facts and medically accurate information about HIV and AIDS. NSS volunteers Sarika and Diksha elucidated the symptoms of HIV and treatment of AIDS, raising awareness about AIDS which is Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome caused by the spread of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection. AIDS awareness slogans ‘Let’s Stop HIV Together’, ‘Open your eyes before AIDS closes them’ resonated through the air. A quiz was also conducted by RRC volunteers Bunny and Pragya to check the understanding level of adopting precautions or the measures of prevention against HIV/AIDS by the slum dwellers. Each family in the slum was given daily use cleanliness item packages. Three winners who were given prizes felt very special. 

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh said that the message given by WHO “Let communities lead” to tackle the menace of AIDS will not only ring out through awareness campaigns in late November, but will reach a crescendo on World AIDS day on 1 December and will continue to echo throughout December and beyond by the RRC volunteers in our three adopted slum areas.

Innocent Hearts College of Education under the auspices of DISHA - An initiative by Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical trust organized an ‘Anti-cracker and Anti-plastic week’ on the eve of Diwali with the motto “Go Green” and with the aim of propagating the message of celebrating eco-friendly Diwali. 

Rangoli competition with the theme - “The triumph of good over evil” and “Goddess Lakshmi Rangoli designs for Diwali” was organized in which Pragya, Diksha and Yashmeen achieved first position, Sarika, Sonia and Enna bagged second position, Komal and Manmeet achieved third position. The student-teachers and teacher-educators pledged that they would never make use of plastic bags which are a major source of pollution, instead they creatively prepared attractive Diwali gift packages with waste paper material. Slogan writing competition with pictures on the theme of “This Diwali burst your ego not crackers” was also organized in which Prity achieved first prize. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh explained to the student-teachers that the light should be illuminated from within each one of us to follow the path of righteousness by overcoming our weaknesses and evil thoughts.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar organized Mehandi design and Nail art competitions as Karwa chauthfestival is around the corner. These competitions were organized on the theme of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ with the aim to revive the symbolic traditional designs to showcase the rich cultural heritage and customs of various states for enabling the students to appreciate and understand India’s diversity, thus fostering a sense of shared identity. The students-teachers made symbolic designs of mehandi art form on each other’s palms. They made pairs and enjoyed the creative activity of nail art by painting, decorating, enhancing and embellishing nails. 

The power of an Indian woman, her beauty, simplicity, grace were all glorified with the traditional art form of Heena design applications. Sonam, Kandla and Medhavi achieved first position, Pragya and Pooja achieved second position, Enna and Gurpreet bagged third position in Mehandi design competition. Prity achieved first position in nail art competition. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh congratulated the winners and encouraged the participants by giving certificates to all of them.
