INNOCENT HEARTS COLLEGE OF EDUCATION ORGANISED ANNUAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar organized Annual Prize Distribution function on May 12, 2018. Mrs Shally Bowry, Executive Director Schools, Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical Trust (BMEMT) was the Chief Guest of the day. Among the distinguished guests were Mrs Aradhana Bowry Executive Director Colleges BMEMT and other dignitaries.

The function started with the lamp lighting ceremony and classical dance for worshiping goddess Saraswati, the mother of the Vedas and champion of knowledge, wisdom and the arts. This was followed by an interesting drama on the theme of eradicating illiteracy. The student- teachers were applauded for their achievements in the field of academics, sports and special talent. Excellent performer awards were given to brilliant students. Trophies, academic prizes and certificates were given to the student-teachers for their achievements and skills. The Chief Guest blessed the would-be teachers to work efficiently and provide qualitative education in schools. Principal Dr Arjinder Singh gave token of honour to the Chief Guest and congratulated the student-teachers for their brilliant performances.

INNOCENT HEARTS COLLEGE OF EDUCATION JALANDHAR ORGANISED VOCATIONAL COUNSELLING AND PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR

The Placement cell of Innocent Hearts College of Education Jalandhar organized Career Counselling Seminar on April 23, 2018. The eminent resource persons were Project Officer Mr. Gaurav Aspal and Assistant Professor Mrs. Shalika Gupta CT Group of Institution Maqsudan. The student-teachers of the college got an opportunity to gain insight into the world of work in the education sector at all levels in India and abroad. The importance of team work, attitude towards work and tips for success were discussed by Mrs Shalika Sharma. Demonstration on Personality Development was given by Mr. Gaurav Aspal. Interactive sessions were carried out simultaneously which made the seminar more interesting.

Later individual eclectic counselling interviews were conducted in which the students asked questions regarding CTET, TET, UGC-NET examinations and cleared their doubts about their pedagogy subject-combination and the teaching subjects which might be offered to them in schools. Problems related to career were also sorted. The contact number of students facing complex serious problems was taken by the Placement cell incharge Ms Ravneet Kaur so that Feedback sessions could be planned later. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh thanked the resource persons and appreciated the conduction of the whole event by the faculty members.

COLLEGE TOOK INITIATIVE TOWARDS SENSITIZATION ON WOMEN SECURITY

The faculty members of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar participated in One day Workshop cum training on the theme of ‘Sexual harassment of women at work place (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013’ on April 17, 2018. Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar Sh. Varinder Sharma IAS was the Chief Guest of the day. The various stakeholders were members of local complaints committee of the district, employers, district officers, employees of various banks, industries, education and police department.  

Constitutional provisions and articles related to equality of women were discussed in the Technical session. This was followed by panel discussion on some serious issues regarding challenges faced by women at work places and implementation of legal rights of women was also highlighted. NSS Officer Ms Tarunjyoti Kaur and Assistant Professor Ms Harjap Kaur participated in the interaction session and tried to find solutions against male dominance in rural areas. Later discussion about the workshop was carried out in front of the faculty members of IHCE and information about various laws and legal rights of women was given to them by the NSS officer.

Principal Dr Arjinder Singh advised the faculty members to spread awareness of the schemes for women layed down by Indian Government, Ministry of Women and Child Development and sensitize girls about the procedure for implementing these laws for their safety and benefit in day-to-day problematic life situations. 

INNOCENT HEARTS COLLEGE OF EDUCATION CELEBRATED BAISAKHI FESTIVAL

The student-teachers of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated Baisakhi festival which has great significance in Sikhism as it is the foundation day of Khalsa Panth. A drama was enacted by the student-teachers which depicted that Baisakhi marks the time for harvest of Rabi crops and therefore is extremely significant for farmers. The student-teachers highlighted the astrological and historical significance of Baisakhi with the help of multi-media presentation. A quiz was also organized related to the historical facts of Baisakhi. In the end, the student-teachers performed giddha and bhangra dance expressing their love and respect for Punjabi culture and heritage. Principal Dr.Arjinder Singh congratulated the student-teachers for their excellent performances and told them to transfer this cultural heritage to the students in the schools where they will teach in future.

Principal as resource person in faculty enhancement workshop

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh acted as a resource person in one day workshop on “Psychometric Analysis- Development and Publication of test” at Lyallpur Khalsa College of Education, Jalandhar on April 7, 2017. He explained the procedures and strategies for designing and publishing the tests to be used in research or in other educational practices. Faculty members of Innocent Hearts College of Education  also attended the various sessions held in the workshop.

Students Visit To Historical Monuments And Ethnic Places
Jalandhar, March 30, 2018: In order to deepen the spirit of patriotism in the student-teachers and infuse in them the honour for national heritage, Innocent Hearts College of Education Jalandhar organized an educational trip to Golden Temple, Durgiana Mandir, Jallianwala Bagh and Sada Pind situated at Amritsar today (March 30).
At the beginning of the journey, Principal Dr.Arjinder Singh directed the student-teachers that apart from having fun, they should observe all the details during their trip and note down the facts for integrating pedagogical contents with the field.
It was a good opportunity for the teacher-educators and student-teachers to explore new places like Sada Pind with heritage theme, analyze historical roots at Jallainwala Bagh and also relate religion with culture at Golden temple and Durgiana Mandir, which indeed have historical significance too.
They had fun and enjoyed the village spectacle at Sada Pind and experienced for some time the way their ancestors lived.Small mud houses with artistic paintings, cows, goats, small lanes, traditional shops, the open environment was like being in the lap of nature. All enjoyed the typical Punjabi taste of makki di roti, sarsonkasaag with lassi. The melodious folklore and dancing kept all enthralled. After visiting this virtual ancient Punjabi village, the student-teachers and teacher-educators experienced the peaceful bliss of Harmandir Sahib. The antic Central Sikh museum gave an exalted feeling. After drinking holy water and having langar the students moved on to grasp the facts at Jallianwala Bagh and Durgiana Mandir. The student-teachers took pledge at Jallianwala Bagh to preserve, protect and transmit the Punjabi culture and heritage. It was really a fantastic trip.
