Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all love of what you are doing or learning. Learning never ends at any stage of life, it continues for everyone be it a student, an educator or a principal.
Dr. Arjinder Singh, Principal, Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandharattended two week workshop on “Flipped Learning and ICT-enabled Teaching and Learning”at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. The workshop aimed at training teachers toset up flipped classrooms, to know about the various stages of video development and to participate in the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) and Study Webs of Active learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) ecosystem.
In an interview with Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh, he explained that all participants were given training on the structure of cognitive process in flipped learning, pillars of flipped learning, creating virtual support system with modernizationand understanding digital initiative of Government of India in Higher Education. He further added that quality e-content and self-study is the need of the hour. The teaching-learning process is not sufficient for present day student’s needs.Teacher has to act as a resource manager and peer involvement is necessary in classroom. Structural teaching and exploratory, experiential, collaborative learning are very important for qualitative education. The Education system has to make a shift from traditional to flipped classrooms. In a flipped classroom, students watch online lectures, collaborate in online discussions, or carry out research at home while engaging in concepts in the classroom under the guidance of a mentor. He emphasized the usage of IT tools in education and assured that Innocent Hearts College of Education will be implementingquality e-content delivery to the student-teachers from the upcoming session.
