Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated ‘National Energy Conservation day’ using virtual reality techniques.

 

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated National Energy Conservation day through online mode on Dec 14, 2020 with the theme of spreading mass awareness about utilizing energy efficiently in our day to day life.

The student- teachers represented videos of Scientific simulation and demonstrated the methods of energy conservation in our daily life. Japleen Kochhar explained the impact of conscious energy conservation on our environment and well-being and that energy takes plenty of time to regenerate. Maninder  gave the message through his presentation that reduction of energy wastage leads to saving money. Ishpreet  gave tips to use energy properly in the kitchen and at homes by illustrating with pictorial examples. Asst. Prof. Ms. Ravneet Kaur said that implementing these energy conservation strategies will have a positive impact on our lives and student-teachers should start doing it, if they have not started yet. The student-teachers and faculty members also took a pledge to not waste any type of energy at their homes and workplace.

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh appreciated efforts made by the whole team and explained that it's very much important to conserve energy for our future generation and our would-be teachers have an important role to play in this direction.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar organised a webinar on ‘Enhancing Communication Skills’.



Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar organised a webinar on the theme of ‘Enhancing Communication Skills’. The resource person for the event was Asst.Prof. Ms.Tarunjyoti Kaur. There were participants from Dips College of Education, Dhilwan and Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar. 

The motive of this webinar was to develop and enhance the various skills required for effective communication among the  would-be teachers. The resource person highlighted that in this era of digital education, communicating effectively is very important.

In the interactive session, a video clipping was shown which depicted the reasons of miscommunication, the participants discussed the obstacles in communicating efficiently and ways to remove these obstacles were enlisted. In the informative session, the skills required for effective communication were explained in detail by the resource person. These skills included firstly the proper usage of language, secondly the four basic skills of language – listening, speaking, reading and writing, thirdly personality traits like confidence, empathy, positivity etc and fourthly Ethical communication skills. In the virtual communication session, the student-teachers were involved in an online activity for better understanding of the communication process. 

The resource person stated that effective communication is essential for providing qualitative education and for achieving success in any stream. The student-teachers were very glad to know about the various tips for acquiring proficiency in language. The webinar ended with the question-answer session in which the queries of student-teachers were clarified.

INNOCENT HEARTS COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, JALANDHAR OBSERVED WORLD AIDS DAY


The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar observed World Aids day to spread awareness regarding AIDS and show support for people living with HIV. The theme for the 2020 observance wasEnding the HIV/AIDS Epidemic: Resilience and Impact”. All the student-teachers and faculty members wore red ribbons to raise awareness about AIDS. 

Due to corona pandemic, the programme was conducted through online mode in which the NSS volunteers shared facts and medically accurate information about HIV and AIDS to help stop HIV stigma and myths. Some NSS volunteers created AIDS awareness posters with slogans like ‘Let’s Stop HIV Together’ and ‘Open your eyes before AIDS closes them’. They prepared videos explaining their posters and shared them through online Whats App groups to highlight ways to reduce HIV stigma and promote prevention. 

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh highlighted the fact that the world is facing new diseases each day and Covid-19 is the latest in this category. He further said that “we all should take constructive steps to eliminate chronic diseases for making our planet safe and spreading awareness about AIDS disease in communities is must, which our NSS unit volunteers are doing to a great extent.”

INNOCENT HEARTS COLLEGE OF EDUCATION JALANDHAR GRABS THE LIMELIGHT WITH OUTSTANDING RESULT

All the student-teachers of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar brought accolades home by achieving 100 % First divisions in the result of GNDU B.Ed. Examination Sem-IV (May – 2020). The college has always focused on providing qualitative education which is clearly reflected by the academic performance of student-teachers. In the aggregate result of B.Ed. session, 16 student-teachers have achieved distinctions. Nishitha Chopra bagged first position in the college, Priyanka Tandon achieved second position in the college and Rijul got third position in the college.





Nishitha expressed her heartfelt gratitude towards the almighty, parents and teachers. She said "This would not have been possible without constant emotional support from my parents. Teachers have always provided their able guidance and timely motivation which led to this academic achievement."Due to Covid-19 pandemic, the examination was held in blended online- offline mode. The results were long-awaited but the achievers were very happy with their result, they thanked Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh and all the faculty members for providing individual attention and for instilling positivity in them. The members of Management, Principal and faculty members congratulated the student-teachers for their brilliant performances and they also motivated all the student-teachers to succeed further with more willpower and determination.

INNOCENT HEARTS COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, JALANDHAR ORGANIZED ONE- WEEK ONLINE ANTI-CRACKER ECO-FRIENDLY FESTIVITIES ON THE EVE OF DIWALI


Innocent Hearts College of Education organized an Online ‘Anti-cracker and Anti-plastic’ week on the eve of Diwali with the aim of propagating the message of celebrating eco-friendly Diwali and spreading awareness about the ill-effects caused by pollutants emitted from the bursting of crackers and burning plastic. Keeping our environment clean and green is very important and Diwali is the best time to decorate our houses and surroundings. On the first day ‘Toran-making creativeness’ competition and Rangoli competition with the theme of “the triumph of good over evil” and “Goddess Lakshmi Rangoli designs for Diwali” were organized in which Gurjot and Divya bagged first prize respectively.





On the second day the student-teachers and teacher-educators pledged that they would never make use of plastic bags which are a major source of pollution, instead they creatively prepared attractive Diwali gift packages with waste paper material. Slogan writing competition with pictures on theme of “This Diwali burst your ego not crackers” was organized on the third day. Palak achieved first prize by artistically writing the slogan -“Let's fill our minds and homes with lights and flowers. Not explosives and fumes”. Diya decoration and poster-making competitions were organized on the fourth day.




 Next two days the student-teachers visited their neighbourhood and explained to their neighbours the various ways to celebrate green Diwali. On the last day online talk was organized in which the student-teachers discussed their experiences of neighbourhood visits.



Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh in his speech said that the main motive of these events was to spread the message of celebrating Eco-friendly and peaceful Diwali. He further explained to the student-teachers that the light should be illuminated from within each of us to follow the path of righteousness by overcoming our weaknesses and evil thoughts.

Celebrated National Unity Day

 The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrated Online National Unity Day to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and to nurture the student-teachers to preserve our national unity and foster international integrity.

A pledge taking ceremony was organised in which the faculty members and student-teachers took pledge to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation INDIA and also strive hard to spread this message among their fellow countrymen. Online cultural solo singing and solo dance performances were organised on this occasion on the theme of 'Unity in Deversity'. Nishitha sang the patriotic song 'Salaam India, jhuke  tere aage sar' with great zeal and fervous. Chahat of Sem-IV danced very gracefully on the song beats of 'Mera Des Rangeela'

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh in his speech highlighted the importance of unity by explaining that unity is strength and the onus of keeping India united is on the shoulders of our student-teachers i.e. would-be teachers.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar organised a webinar on ‘Shaping lives through Yoga Practice’ with the sub- theme of ‘Philosophy of Yoga and its role in Well-being’ on October 15, 2020. The aim of this webinar was to impart knowledge about understanding the self and how good mental and physical health can be maintained by practicing yoga daily which is very much required during this period of Covid-19.

The Resource persons were Yoga experts - Dr. Vinod Kumar Paul, President of Yog-Path Sansthan and Ms. Anudeep, Vice -President of Yog-Path Sansthan. The faculty members and student-teachers of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar; OPM Institute of Education, Kapurthala; Sacred Heart College of Education, Barnala; Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Padhiana; Dips College of Education, Kapurthala; Sri Guru Angad Dev College of Education, Khadoor Sahib participated in this event.

The webinar started with an interactive session in which the benefits of performing yoga asanas were briefed and its implications on possessing a sound mind and a healthy body were discussed by the resource person Dr. Vinod Kumar Paul. Emphasis was laid by him on developing right eating habits, having a balanced diet, maintaining sleeping hours and practicing Yoga daily. The quotation of B.K.S.Iyengar was also highlighted - "Yoga is a light, which once lit, will never dim. The better your practice, the brighter the flame."  

Demonstrations of various asanas were given by the Yoga experts in the Yoga -Asana session in which all  the participants followed them step by step and performed the poses of Yoga from easy asanas to difficult ones. All the participants felt lively and relaxed after doing breathing-exercises and meditation during the stress- relieving session. Later the participants clarified their doubts in the question-answer session to which the resource persons responded quite well.

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh thanked the resource persons for practically demonstrating yoga and in turn creating a cheerful environment and satisfying the participants. The student-teachers were instructed to write their reflections related to this webinar and practice yoga asanas daily. Feedback regarding the experience of this webinar was taken from the participants. E-certificates were issued to all the participants.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International Girl Child Day



The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International girl child day to focus attention on the challenges girls face and to promote girls empowerment using online mode. Online declamation contest and extempore was organised in which many student-teachers participated actively. Kunika achieved first position, she spoke eloquently on the topic of ‘Women Empowerment’. Amritpal expressed her views about ‘Save Girl Child, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ and bagged second position. Prabhjot Kaur recited a self-composed poem on challenges faced by girls and how to overcome them. An Online extempore was also organised on topics related to the achievements of Great Indian women  - Mary Kom, Kalpana Chawla, Sunita Williams etc. The student-teachers expressed their inner feelings and thoughts about the strategies to be adopted to equip girls with qualitative education and make their future bright. E- certificates were given to the winners. 

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh congratulated the winners and appreciated the participants. He said that the college has a ‘Grievance cell’ and a ‘Guidance and Counselling cell’ to help in solving problems faced by females so that they live a peaceful and dignified life. Many student-teachers pursuing B.Ed. are mothers of girl child and they are trained to take care of their daughters by providing them with equal rights, quality education and other amenities of  life the same way as they would do for a boy.

This year’s UNICEF theme is “My voice, our equal future”. Let envision a world by girls who are counted and change-makers of the world.

 Giving information, Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh said that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many students are facing a lot of problems in their higher education. To solve this problem, Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar has set up an online admission guidance cell. This cell will help the students of various streams including B.Ed. Students will also be guided for admission, filling up online forms, getting a seat in the desired college or any other problem.
