INNOCENT HEARTS COLLEGE OF EDUCATION CELEBRATED ANTI-CRACKER DIWALI WEEK

 

Innocent Hearts College of Education under the auspices of DISHA - An initiative by Bowry Memorial Educational and Medical trust organized an ‘Anti-cracker and Anti-plastic week’ on the eve of Diwali with the motto “Go Green” and with the aim of propagating the message of celebrating eco-friendly Diwali. 
Rangoli competition with the theme - “The triumph of good over evil” and “Goddess Lakshmi Rangoli designs for Diwali” was organized in which Pragya, Diksha and Yashmeen achieved first position, Sarika, Sonia and Enna bagged second position, Komal and Manmeet achieved third position. The student-teachers and teacher-educators pledged that they would never make use of plastic bags which are a major source of pollution, instead they creatively prepared attractive Diwali gift packages with waste paper material. Slogan writing competition with pictures on the theme of “This Diwali burst your ego not crackers” was also organized in which Prity achieved first prize. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh explained to the student-teachers that the light should be illuminated from within each one of us to follow the path of righteousness by overcoming our weaknesses and evil thoughts.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar enthralled in Karwachauth festivities

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar organized Mehandi design and Nail art competitions as Karwa chauthfestival is around the corner. These competitions were organized on the theme of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ with the aim to revive the symbolic traditional designs to showcase the rich cultural heritage and customs of various states for enabling the students to appreciate and understand India’s diversity, thus fostering a sense of shared identity. The students-teachers made symbolic designs of mehandi art form on each other’s palms. They made pairs and enjoyed the creative activity of nail art by painting, decorating, enhancing and embellishing nails. 

The power of an Indian woman, her beauty, simplicity, grace were all glorified with the traditional art form of Heena design applications. Sonam, Kandla and Medhavi achieved first position, Pragya and Pooja achieved second position, Enna and Gurpreet bagged third position in Mehandi design competition. Prity achieved first position in nail art competition. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh congratulated the winners and encouraged the participants by giving certificates to all of them.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International Girl Child Day with 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' theme.


The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International girl child day to increase awareness on the importance of girl child education, health, and nutrition under the 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' campaign celebrating the achievements of the women of our nation. It involved paying tribute to the Indian women freedom fighters who had protected our nation. 
The NSS volunteers took Panch Pran Pledge with a fistful of soil and earthen diyas. They visited the slum areas with emphasis on women participation for collection of soil and rice in the Amrit Kalash. The historical events from the life of brave Indian women freedom fighters - Rani Lakshmi Bai, Sarojini Naidu, Aruna Asaf Ali and Savitribai Phule were revived amongst the slum women dwellers with the objective of changing their mind set that they are not weak and they should recognize their inner power and female strength. Importance of educating their daughters, ways to maintain cleanliness and follow a nutritious food chart was also explained to these women.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar ushered in the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations with Swachhta Hi Seva campaign


The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar started celebrations of Gandhi Jayanti with the aim of promoting Gandhian Philosophy on Cleanliness as having three dimensions - a clean mind, a clean body and clean surroundings.
Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign started from September 25, 2023 onwards with the theme of SHS-2023 that is 'Garbage Free India' in the teaching practice schools by the student- teachers. Various activities were conducted with the school students which included essay writing on ‘“No one should spit or clean his nose on the streets…-M.K. Gandhi” and extension lectures for spreading awareness about the importance of waste segregation management - saturating dry and wet waste bins in line with the Hara Geela, Sookha Neela campaign.  Morning assembly speeches on discouraging usage of single use plastic items was also given by NSS volunteers in the schools. 
Best out of waste competition was organised in the college with the theme of changing waste to wealth and encouraging alternatives to Single Use Plastic (SUP). All the student-teachers actively practiced handicrafts like pottery making, decorative paper bag making, paper mache, glass work, paper crafts, puppets and stone work etc with the waste materials. Mahatma Gandhiji had emphasized on handicraft training, “not merely for production work but for developing intellect of the pupils”.
Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh explained the quotation of Gandhiji, “I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet.” He further said that it is very much important for all to understand, spread and imbibe the philosophy of cleanliness given by our Father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhiji.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar welcomed the newly enrolled students with an Orientation Programme.


Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar initiated the B.Ed. session (2023-2025) with a prayer ceremony to seek the blessings of the almighty and to welcome the new students with serene positive vibes.  This was followed by Orientation Programme in which the new entrants were acquainted with the rules, regulations and curriculum of the B.Ed. programme. 
Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh addressed the new-comers by welcoming them and briefed them about the college governing body, the meritorious history of the college and acquainted them about the various cells and committees run by the college. He introduced the faculty members to the newly admitted students and also discussed the scheme of study of the two-year B.Ed. training programme. Assistant Professor Ms. Tarunjyoti Kaur informed the students about the college etiquettes and the co-curricular and NSS activities which the college organizes every year during the B.Ed. course. In the end, the faculty members encouraged the student-teachers to pursue their goal of success with full dedication and commitment.








Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated National Hindi Diwas

 

The NSS unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education celebrated Hindi Diwas with great pride and dignity in order to spread the message that Hindi language is the backbone of our nation and the soul of our Indian cultural heritage. Display- board decoration competition was organized by the student-teachers in their teaching practice schools to shed light on the history and significance of Hindi language in which the school students wrote self- composed poems, historical events, stories, quotations and creative cartoon scripts in the Hindi Language.
A Skit was performed by the NSS volunteers on “Inculcating values amongst the students through Kabir Dasji ke Dohey, Rahimji ke Dohey, Tulsi Dasji ke Dohey in the Hindi language.” Through different scenes the NSS volunteers - Sonia, Sarika Gautam, Sonamdeep Kaur, Bunny Sodhi, Enna, Tania and Nitika depicted their love and respect for Hindi language, the official language of the Union of India. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh appreciated the performances and further guided the students to preserve and transmit Hindi Language to the coming generations in its pure form as it is the prime duty of the would-be teachers.





Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International Literacy day


The NSS Unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar celebrated International literacy day with the theme given by UNESCO for the year 2023 i.e., ‘Promoting literacy for a world in transition: Building the foundation for sustainable and peaceful societies’.   
A drama was enacted by the NSS volunteers Navita, Akshita Arora, Neha, Shagun, Shivani and Poonam Sharma portraying the importance of education on the holistic development of an individual and how this further affects the individual’s social living and value system. They prepared their own script, composed dialogues and selected appropriate costumes and props. The animated backgrounds made the show more capturing to the audience. 
‘Blackboard-writing Skill competition’ on academic writings was conducted in which illuminating quotations on Value education were inscribed on the boards by the student-teachers. Rohit Malhotra achieved first position and Sahas Aggarwal achieved second position in the blackboard writing competition. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh and educators congratulated all the participants for their marvelous performances and certificates were given to all.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar taking giant strides towards academic success.

 

The student-teachers of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar achieved second position at the district level in the GNDU B.Ed. Sem-II Examination (May 2023). Almost all the student-teachers attained brilliant marks by scoring 90% First divisions. Eight students’ grabbed distinctions and fifty percent student – teachers achieved more than 70% marks. 
Yashika Jain achieved First position in the college with 80% marks, Enna bagged Second position with 78.10% marks, Amrit Kaur and Sonia attained Third position in the college with 76% marks. Yashika Jain said, “For my achievement, I am thankful to all my teachers for their generous cooperation and I am so glad to choose Innocent Hearts College of Education for pursuing my professional B.Ed. course.” Sonia added, “I would like to extend my gratitude to my parents and family for being my constant support. Even the guidance meted by our college Principal Sir and teachers has always encouraged me to move forward. Saying ‘thankyou’ to all of them is just not enough.”
Executive Director (Colleges) Innocent Hearts Group, Mrs. Aradhana Bowry congratulated the achievers and wished them more progress in their teaching practice schools. Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh guided the student- teachers to put theory into practice by applying their teaching skills and strategies on the school students. The members of Management, Principal and faculty members congratulated all the students for their excellence. All the students felt happy and victorious.

Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar observed Anti-Ragging day


The NSS Unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education, Jalandhar observed Anti-ragging day by conducting various activities showing resentment against all the forms of ragging both inside and outside the college campus.  

An Oath-taking ceremony was organized in which all the student-teachers promised that they would not indulge in the menace of ragging or any form of violent behaviour. Neither will they tolerate being ragged or subjected to violence. 

A drama exemplifying prohibition, prevention and punishment related to ragging was enacted by the NSS volunteers Heena Gaba, Arshdeep, Ashima, Sakshi, Amrit, Manpreet Kaur, Yashika Jain, Prakul Arora, Shakun and Reema under the direction of NSS programme officer Ms. Tarunjyoti Kaur.

Documentary Movies on the ill effects of ragging were shown to the students and faculty which were selected from UGC website www.antiragging.in 

Principal Dr. Arjinder Singh said, “Although there have been no such malpractices in our college but spreading the message of humanity, respect, co-operation and peace is very important amongst today’s youth and we all need to spread this message. All our new students and their parents are guided to fill the online anti-ragging undertaking form according to the UGC recommendations each year. ”

Meri Mati, Mera Desh campaign

 The NSS Unit of Innocent Hearts College of Education organized a medicinal tree plantation drive and essay writing competition on the life and contributions of our national heroes under the Meri Mati, Mera Desh campaign to celebrate 76th Independence day. Skill- based training on the use of agricultural tools was given by NSS volunteer Rajesh Kumar Tanwar.
